Tempo x Valentine

In late 2025, Kate Valentine created a series of large-scale works for Tempo Reformer Pilates’ Freshwater and Seaforth studios. The collaboration emerged through conversations around the light, volume and atmosphere of the studios, and the founder’s vision for the Tempo brand.


Three works were created to respond to each studio individually, extending Tempo’s brand palette and materials. The resulting pieces sit seamlessly within the studio spaces, completing them and connecting to the communites they serve.

Explore the process

    Start with a conversation

    Collaboration starts with a conversation and a concept, with rough sketches and notes to record ideas and direction.

    Play

    Concept, colour, line and form. Play until the concept lands.

    Studies

    For large projects, I develop studies to test the concept. For Tempo Reformer I discussed these with the client to make sure we were aligned on the direction of the works.

    Redraw and refine

    I use procreate app to work up rough paint sketches into a perfectly scaled working drawing so that I can easily switch from iPad to canvas.

    Into the studio

    Bringing the painting to life, completing and protecting the work with satin varnish and a floating frame.

    Installation

    Installing the work in the beautiful Tempo Reformer Pilates studio and watching the work complete and elevate the space.
