Q is for Queensland frangipani, or Hymenosporum flavum if you are feeling scientific. I wasn’t able to find a trusted resource with an Aboriginal name for this one, and there are very few Australian plants that actually begin with Q. A research failure perhaps, but from a painterly perspective this is one of my favourite studies in the series.
This 20 x 20 mini acrylic painting is part of an A-Z series showing the diversity and beauty of Australian flora. I grew up in Aotearoa New Zealand, and the project was an exercise in learning and appreciating Aboriginal plant lore, and learning more about Australian plant species in my adopted home.
