Y is for Yam Daisy

$200.00

Y is for Yam Daisy, which has many Aboriginal names, especially Murnong (Woiwurrung/Wurundjeri), Milaan (Gamilaraay), and Mlarng (Gunaikurnai). The Murnong is such an important plant it is part of traditional dreaming stories and continues to be a recurring motif in works of Aboriginal contemporary art.

This 20 x 20 mini acrylic painting is part of an A-Z series showing the diversity and beauty of Australian flora. I grew up in Aotearoa New Zealand, and the project was an exercise in learning and appreciating Aboriginal plant lore, and learning more about Australian plant species in my adopted home.

Signed on the reverse by the artist.
