T is for Tubada, the Noongar word for Bottlebrush or Callistemon phoeniceus. The nectar rich flowers can be soaked in water to create a sweet drink, the bark was used for traditional medicine and the hard wood is perfect for manufacturing wooden items.
This 20 x 20 mini acrylic painting is part of an A-Z series showing the diversity and beauty of Australian flora. I grew up in Aotearoa New Zealand, and the project was an exercise in learning and appreciating Aboriginal plant lore, and learning more about Australian plant species in my adopted home.
Signed on the reverse by the artist.
